Maryland-based producer, composer, and music educator Jago Prates — known artistically as JAGO — is reshaping electronic music through immersive storytelling and fearless genre-blending. With official releases on Excision's Subsidia and Bear Grillz's Rude Service, his work bridges cinematic emotion and raw energy, weaving together melodic bass, experimental sound design, and orchestral composition into a transportive, singular sound.
Beyond the studio, Jago brings that same creative depth into the classroom. With years of experience teaching piano and music production to students of all ages — from young children discovering the instrument for the first time to adults exploring composition and production — he approaches teaching the way he approaches music: with curiosity, intention, and a commitment to helping each student find their own voice.
Whether through sweeping orchestral arrangements or intimate, introspective bass lines, JAGO's music is a journey — one that invites listeners to experience emotion in its purest form.

Hi, I'm Jago! I grew up in a musical family — my father put a pocket trumpet in my hands at age two. By twelve, I knew music would define my life. I started producing my own music, pursued classical training, became an active church musician, and now have professional releases on independent labels.
For the past five years I've had the joy of teaching students of all ages — from young kids hearing their very first notes, to adults picking up an instrument for the first time. I teach because I love seeing how music changes the way kids interact with the world, and how endlessly creative they turn out to be. It's one of the most rewarding things I do!
